Housing Advice Officer

Bahay Kubo Housing Association is recruiting for Housing Advice Officer responsible for promoting and advocating the rights to housing provision and information for the service users. The primary purpose of the role is to provide dedicated, confidential, and objective advice, support, and referral to gain access to suitable temporary and long-term accommodation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact on housing issues that affect users through effective management of housing enquiries and referrals.
  • Provide effective individual advice and information to service users on different option of finding accommodation.
  • Develop and maintain an effective referral pathway to statutory and non-statutory housing agencies.
  • Keeping up-to-date details of relevant housing regulations, benefits information ie: housing benefits, universal credits, and other information relevant to housing related issues.
  • Signpost service users where applicable to other welfare and benefit support services and refer them to other specialist agencies who can provide further assistance.
  • To achieve the expected number of target-end users, as set by the Programme Manager.
  • Keeping up-to-date information and services on language translation/interpretation to further assist in any applications and interviews by statutory and non-statutory agencies.
  • To work closely with multiservice agencies to ensure that housing needs and other support are provided.
  • Assume responsibility for the management of case files and accurate records of individual cases handled, including the accurate inputting of relevant case details onto the organisation’s database recording system (i.e., Capsule) and maintain timely and up to date records, and prepare them for the case team and/or management meetings when needed.
  • Advocate on housing issues and work in cooperation with other specialist staff in promoting issues relevant to the needs of service users including immigration, health and care, poverty and loneliness, wellness, and wellbeing.
  • Attend community projects and events to support project coordinators or team leaders, as well as internal and external meetings and training courses, as required.
  • Keep updated with the changes in laws or policies relating to housing, welfare reform and the benefits system.
  • Ensure that safe and inclusive service is discharged to client.
